Santa Fe Preparatory School was the place where Gunn was able to graduate in the year 1986. She was a theater student in the theater department at Northwestern University and graduated with her degree in 1990. The fall of 1988 was the time when Gunn was on the road for a year to study in the British American Drama Academy. When she moved into Laurel Canyon Los Angeles she shared a house with Pamela Adlon. Gunn was well known for her role for her character Skyler in AMC's Breaking drama.
