Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th, 1967. She belongs to the fourth generation of Robertses to reside in the Atlanta area, starting with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. At an early age, her dad became fascinated by theatre. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force in 1953 and, while stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, was cast in the military's production, which featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in Air Force. In 1955, the couple married and their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in the year 1957. Walter was recruited to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the show Bum Bum and His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. In 1964 Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's television program named Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed themselves. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou established their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for six years. During this time they also had two children Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
