Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the United States. She has worked as media critic since. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentary and analyses of portrayals in popular cultures. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was still a student at the university. The ambitious lady planned to launch a web series that would examine the gender roles in video games and was the subject of an online harassment campaign. The attack did be a deterrent, but it only strengthened her resolve as a feminist media critic. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes.
